DON BOSCO ALUMNI MUMBAI PROVINCIAL FEDERATION Under the banner of the Don Bosco Almuni Mumbai Provincial federation, the Kurla Unit facilitated and hosted a whole day Seminar on “Leadership, social harmony and contemporary challenges for leadership”

The program was very well attended, there were 87 participants in all which included past pupils, teachers, professors and other professionals. One and all were enriched by the knowledge provided by the resource person Dr. Keith D’souza with his amazing qualifications and experience in the field of management and organization development. Activities started at 10 a.m. with a short prayer service, followed by a power point presentation, the theme being “togetherness” which was followed by a brief account on the provincial federation and its units. After this there was a very warm welcome speech given by Mr.Claver, then the Provincial Delegate, Fr. Eliaz Diaz gave a brief talk on the new committee and the Kurla unit. Dr. Keith led the group with the saying “We must become the change we want to see” and went on to a brainstorming session with exercises and various examples to help explain the various aspects of ‘Leadership’, since the group were of a mixed nature Dr. Keith kept his language simple and easy to be understood by one and all present. He described the two types of leaders – Transformation and Transaction, explained their meanings, and even initiated a game called “win as much as you can”, which took over an hour and a half and then left it up to the group to identify which type each one identified with and which was better according to their experiences. Past pupils were very impressed with Dr. Keith’s reasoning that it was not impossible to make a change in society, with the right focus and leadership qualities one can do wonders. All in all the whole group had an enjoyable day, each one participated in all the exercises and games. Lunch, tea and snacks too were served. Finally Mr. Ketan Gala, the Provincial President, gave a befitting vote of thanks to end a truly fulfilling Sunday. |
